Karen O’Connor
Architect in Training
Karen O’Connor was born in Lima, Peru. From a very young age, she liked to build and design spaces that she made into models and drawings. When she saw the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, Peter Eisenman and Zaha Hadid, she decided she wanted to be an architect. Karen believes that being an architect is a way of serving others because when architects design they stop thinking about themselves and focus on what other people need and create spaces based on those needs. Karen studied Architecture and Urban Design at the Peruvian University of Applied Sciences (UPC) in Lima, Peru and English at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She is an Autodesk Certified User and has an Autodesk Revit Professional Certification. Currently, she is on the path to becoming a licensed architect in the USA. Outside of work, Karen likes to travel with her husband, meet people and discover new cultures. When she came to the United States, she discovered that she enjoys hiking and being surrounded by nature. She’s also an illustrator and shares positive messages through her illustrations. Karen manages an architecture academy for children and youth in Latin America where architecture is used as a means of stimulation to expand creativity and appreciation for the urban environment. Karen exemplifies Resin’s core value of dedication to teaching and learning.
